WWII Airsoft
Airsoft is not a WWIIHRS (World War II Historical Re-enactment Society) sanctioned activity.
Why airsoft you may ask? Well, our unit members have been in reenacting for many years and recently we met some groups that participated in WWII themed airsoft events and we found it to be a new addition to our activities.
First, its a great resource for recruiting new members into reenacting. Many airsofters enjoy military history and this kind of event is a great opportunity to show them what the hobby is all about.
Second, its a great opportunity for reenactment units to practice their tactics without spending a great deal of money on blank ammunition. Frankly, if your tactics do not work in airsoft they certainly wont work at a blank-fire event.
Lastly, its just plain fun. The scenarios are interesting, the players are having a really good time, and it gives the veteran reenactors a chance to try something new that might respark their interest.
